The Flower Moon Dance | with Jess and Jane Belshaw

The full moon of May is known as the Flower Moon, because of the flowers that bloom in this time. Blossoms hold many meanings. The blossoming of trees brings a sense of vitality and vibrancy. At the same time these blossoms fall to the ground in a few short weeks. We are invited to celebrate this beauty whilst it is here knowing that just as the blossoms are, life is fleeting.

In the morning, by friend and colleague Jane Belshaw will offer The Meditation Cycle – sit, walk, dance – with five-minute meditations followed by walking and longer periods of dance. We will move and be still, bringing presence to what is emerging, and celebrating any passing moments of beauty and vibrancy as they arise.

In the afternoon, I will hold a long dance cycle. You will be invited offer attention to those places where you may be ready to flower, to those movements that want to open and expand ... as well as to where you may be still in seed, shoot or bud, or already in a process of concentration, of drawing in. There will be a little facilitation to help you to connect with your body and drop into your dance, but the emphasis will be on creating a generative space to allow dances just to emerge.

Dancers of all ages and ability are welcome, including those who are new to conscious dance.

Date: Sunday 12 May.
Time: !0.45am–5pm.

Place: Poplar Union, 2 Cotall St, London E14 6TL (near Canary Wharf).
